Custom Home Builders in Stratford, ON

Stratford draws custom home builders in Ontario from the city itself and from the small towns around it, and this page covers 8 businesses. Their work is mostly custom homes built on a client's plan, with a second strand of builders who sell homes in their own communities. Builders here work in Perth County and Huron County, and some reach as far as Paris.

Much of the trade comes from outside the city limits. Apple Home Builders is a construction company in Tavistock that describes its work as custom built homes, renovations and subdivision homes. Feeney Design Build, founded in 2007 by Matt Feeney, builds from Mitchell in Perth and Huron Counties and beyond. Pol Quality Homes Inc. is also in Mitchell and works in Stratford and the surrounding area out to Lake Huron. Bickell Built Homes is a family-owned builder in St. Marys, and Bannon Log Homes & Timberframes works from Perth South.

Two of the builders here build whole neighbourhoods. Bickell Built Homes has been building since 1987 and offers custom homes, portfolio homes, lifestyle homes and Toran Modern Towns, and it sells homes in its own St. Marys communities. Festival West Stratford by Grandview Homes is a community in Stratford now selling single detached homes on 36 and 38 foot lots, plus freehold townhomes, with a model home and sales centre on site. Grandview Homes started as a one-man operation in 1989. A buyer who wants a customizable house in a new development can compare that route with hiring a builder for a private lot.

Log and timber frame work is part of the local mix. Bannon Log Homes & Timberframes builds hand-crafted log homes and timber frame structures, with Dan Bannon working in Ontario since 1988. The shop prepares timbers that run from 8 by 12 inches to 12 by 12 inches and up to 30 feet. Walls are closed in with stress-skin panels or conventional framing, and several floor plans are available to view. It is rated 5.0 from 3 reviews.
